About Warner Pacific University

Warner Pacific University originated in September 1935 when the Church of God voted to establish a private liberal arts institution to honor their founder, Daniel Sidney Warner. On February 9, 1937, it was formally incorporated as the Pacific Bible College in Washington. That October, President A.F. Gray welcomed an inaugural class of 21 to its first two-story Spokane schoolhouse. In 1940, the Board acquired land to relocate to Southeast Portland’s Mount Tabor for $14,000. In 1947, the Pearl Lewis Building was erected beside Old Main. In 1959, President Milo Chapman adopted the Warner Pacific College name. Regionally accredited in 1961, Warner Pacific received its earliest National Science Foundation scholarship in 1965. In 1976, the Concerned Black Students Club became WPU’s first campus organization. In 1987, Warner launched its Degree Completion Program for adults. On January 18, 2018, it was renamed Warner Pacific University.

Endowed for $16.2 million, Warner Pacific University now employs 27 full-time faculty teaching 364 traditional undergrad and 387 adult/post-grad Knights from 19 states online, on its 14.5-acre Willamette Valley campus, or at five Portland satellites with 20+ clubs like Bridge Builders. Warner Pacific University Accreditation Details

On March 2, 2015, Warner Pacific University satisfactorily submitted a Fifth-Year Mid-Cycle Report to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) to continue the Level III accreditation status through the next Spring 2020 evaluation under President Andrea P. Cook, Ph.D., who earned the Portland Business Journal’s Orchid Award. Located 186 miles north via Interstate 5 in Redmond, this seven-state Pacific Northeast Region accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC). Further, the Oregon State Board of Nursing approved the BSN Program on November 15, 2018. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited Warner Pacific through June 2021.

Warner Pacific University Application Requirements

Enrollment at Warner Pacific University is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s because only 299 of the 476 Fall 2018 applicants were okayed for selective 63 percent acceptance. First-year Knights must be graduating from a licensed high school or earning the GED equivalent. The Class of 2022 presented a median secondary GPA of 3.17. The middle 50th percentile had ACT scores of 15-20. Mid-range admitted SAT scores were 480-530 for Math and 510-570 for Reading. Traditional transfers need at least cumulative GPAs of 2.0 at regionally accredited institutions. Adult degrees are reserved for those with 48+ non-remedial credits and two years of full-time work experience. International learners must achieve a minimum 79 TOEFL iBT or 6.5 IELTS score. The Professional & Graduate Studies Division seeks four-year bachelor’s degree completion and 3.0 or better GPAs. Lower GPAs might be considered on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances. Master of Education cohorts must verify active PreK-12 certification.
