Degree Programs Offered at Rutgers University-Camden

Rutgers University-Camden offers many of the same degree programs that are available on the university’s main campus. This includes more than 40 options for undergrads. Those students can choose the African American and American studies major. It looks at the history and culture of the African people and what happened to them when they arrived in other countries. Students in the English program study communications and writing as they read books and articles. Nursing, religion, psychology, computer science, economics and studio art are some of the other majors that undergrads can pick on this campus.

Graduate students can choose from nearly 30 majors and programs, including some that feature evening and weekend classes. Public policy and administration majors can pick the university’s traditional graduate program or the one that includes evening and weekend classes. This program offers a Master of Public Administration as well as an Executive Master of Public Administration. Both help students in the university’s doctoral program, which features a concentration in community development. A Master of Social Work (MSW) is available from the School of Social Work. It features practicums and is available both online and on-campus. The university also offers the MSW as a hybrid program.

The university’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) is offered as a traditional program and with an executive track for students who cannot take daytime classes. Not only can students start at the beginning of three different semesters, but they can study abroad and sign up for online classes. MBA students can choose from concentrations that include strategic leadership, digital marketing, and investments and private wealth management. The university also offers a law program that allows students to take weekend and evening classes.

This branch of Rutgers also offers eight joint and dual degree programs. Students enter as undergrads but have the chance to take advanced classes before they finish a bachelor’s degree. This includes one program that features both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and an MBA and another that lets students earn a BA and a law degree. Once they complete a bachelor’s degree, students can earn graduate degrees in public health, public administration, and teaching too. These programs require that students complete all or most of their degree requirements by the end of their junior years and asks that they then apply to a joint program.

Rutgers University-Camden is a public university in Camden, New Jersey that serves as a regional branch of Rutgers University-Camden. Though Rutgers opened in the late 18th century, the Camden branch was established in the 1920s. The campus included the College of South Jersey and the South Jersey Law School. Rutgers took over the operations of both schools in the 1950s, which led to the campus becoming Rutgers University-Camden. It switched to a liberal arts curriculum around this time and added programs in English, business administration and biology, which led to the university adding graduate degree programs in the 1980s. Sometimes called Rutgers Camden to distinguish it from the main campus and regional campuses, the university now has an Honors College and offers more than 40 undergrad majors as well as programs for graduate students. Rutgers University-Camden has an enrollment of more than 6,100 students, which includes those in the university’s online and nontraditional degree programs.

Rutgers University-Camden Accreditation Details

The Camden branch of Rutgers University-Camden has regional accreditation and can give students the financial aid that they need as long as those students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) awarded this accreditation to the university. It also has the authorization needed to offer online degree programs. Students attending Rutgers Camden will find that some programs have accreditation from organizations such as the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Rutgers University-Camden Application Requirements

Rutgers allows students to attend on-campus events to learn more about specific programs. They can also spend the night in a dorm room and sit in on classes. Undergrads need to take classes in core subject areas in high school, including English, social studies, science, and math. Students who apply by November first will get an online decision by the end of January. The university will respond online by the end of February to students who applied by the beginning of December. It will also send traditional responses to students at the start of May. Rutgers has an application and a fee and asks for a standardized test score and high school transcript. The university weighs factors such as the personal essay that the student writes, test scores and grades when making its decision.

The graduate admissions application makes it easy for grad students to apply to Rutgers University-Camden. The university also offers discounts for online undergrads that drop their rates to $300 per credit hour. Students of all ages can get financial aid from Rutgers with the FAFSA. This helps them get federal loans, government and institutional grants, scholarships and work-study.
