Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary offers masters studies, doctoral degrees, and undergraduate programs, and students may also participate in international studies for some programs. The seminary has an active and comprehensive online division that students can access from any location.

Undergraduate degrees at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary are offered by Spurgeon College, and the school offers ten degrees and a variety of non-degree certificates. Bachelor of Arts degrees available include those in Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, Intercultural Studies, and Student Ministry. Undergraduate students can also major in Worship Ministry, Theology, Business Leadership, Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Counseling Psychology.

Some of the certificates available include a Certificate of Ministry Studies, a Diploma of Ministry Studies, a Certificate of Worship Ministries, and an Advanced Certificate of Ministry Studies. Three of these certificates that are offered are housed within the Midwestern Women’s Institute and require that students complete between nine units and 15 units to complete their certificate.

Non-degree seeking undergraduate students can also earn a certificate in History and Theology, Biblical Studies, the Humanities, Business, Christian Education, Ministry, Counseling & Psychology, and General Studies. These certificates usually require that students complete around four classes in a given area of study.

Prospective graduate students have the option of earning a Master of Arts, Master of Divinity, or Master of Theological Study. Each of these programs offers several degree areas in Biblical and related areas. For example, the Master of Theological Study degree is available in concentrations and emphases that include Church Planning, Church Revitalization, Missions, Leadership, and Discipleship.

Doctoral students at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary can earn a Doctor of Philosophy or a Doctor of Ministry. Degree emphases include Apologetics, Historical Theology, New Testament, and Old Testament. Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Application Requirements

Students who want to apply to Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will begin with the official application. The application requires that students share basic demographic information, as well as personal information about the student’s mental and social health. Students must complete a record for immunizations, as well as provide proof of having received the meningococcal vaccine if they plan to live in one of the school’s dormitories.

In addition to the official application, students must also write an application essay that describes how and when the student became a Christian. The essay must include at least three double-spaced pages. The spouse, fiancé, or fiancée of the applicant must also submit an essay that provides details about his or her Christianity.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is based on a student’s degree level and the format they choose for instruction. Classroom-based courses are $300 for qualified Southern Baptist students and $465 for all other students. Online and internet-based courses are $350 for qualified Southern Baptist students and $385 for all other students.

For graduate students, on-campus rates are $270 per credit hour for qualified Southern Baptist students and $465 for all other students. Online graduate students will pay $350 if they’re a qualified Southern Baptist or Korean student or $385 if they’re any other type of student. Those who attend the St. Louis extension for graduate study will pay $250 per credit hour. Doctoral fees vary based on the degree and cost between $1,500 to $2,625 per semester.

Federal student aid is available to qualified students who attend Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and students may be eligible to participate in the Direct Loan and Pell Grant programs when they submit their FAFSA application. Students may qualify for subsidized loans that don’t accrue interest while the student is enrolled in school or unsubsidized loans, which do accrue interest from their dispersal date.
