Oregon State University is accredited regionally by the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities. This means that OSU has been evaluated by a leading authority on education and has deemed that OSU offers a high-quality learning experience. Regional accreditation is one of the highest forms available and recognized by most entities.

Oregon State University Application Requirements

First-year students are those that are in high school or have graduated high school (or received a GED) and haven’t attended college before or have fewer than 15-semester credits.

Transfer students are those who have completed 16 or more transferable credits from a college that is regionally accredited and have received a GED or high school diploma.

Admission requirements for first-year students include having the right coursework throughout the high school program, going beyond what was minimally required. Students must also have SAT or ACT scores, and the university would like to see the essay portion if applicable. Students must also have an insight resume unless they are applying for online or hybrid courses.

Graduate students that already have a Bachelor’s degree and want a doctoral, master’s, or graduate certificate must have proof of earning a four-year baccalaureate degree, professional degree, or appropriate alternative degree. They must have a “B” grade average (3.00 GPA on a 4.00 grade scale).

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students who want to attend Oregon State University at the undergraduate or graduate level must make sure that they know how much it will cost to attend.

Undergraduates can expect to pay about $300 per credit for any regular undergraduate program. However, some programs may cost more or less. For example, any College of Business credits cost $330 while the College of Engineering (Professional computer science) courses cost $499 per credit.

Graduates can expect to pay $560 per credit for regular graduate programs. Some course credits can cost more. For example, Ph.D./Ed.D. courses in Adult/Higher Education will cost $589 per credit while Public Health courses for graduate certificates and MPH can cost $627 per credit.

Prospective students can also expect other fees that they will be required to pay. These can include advance tuition deposits to confirm that you plan to enroll as an undergraduate. There is also a matriculation fee for all new students, other than those who aren’t seeking a degree. It’s a one-time fee.

Financial aid is also available for those who need it. Students can apply for federal financial aid with the FAFSA form and may receive grants, scholarships, and federal loans. Oregon State University also offers ScholarDollars, need-based grants, and financial hardship grants to those who need them.
