Clarks Summit University was founded in 1932 as a Christian school called Baptist Bible Seminary. It was located in Johnson City, New York for the first 36 years of its existence. In 1968, Baptist Bible Seminary was relocated to Pennsylvania and renamed the Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania. In 2016, the seminary became Clarks Summit University, and it received university status from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. About 900 to 1,000 students enroll in classes at CSU every year. There are 17 academic buildings on campus, and over 90 percent of the residential undergraduates at CSU live in one of the 11 on-campus residence halls.
