Clarks Summit University was founded in 1932 as a Christian school called Baptist Bible Seminary. It was located in Johnson City, New York for the first 36 years of its existence. In 1968, Baptist Bible Seminary was relocated to Pennsylvania and renamed the Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania. In 2016, the seminary became Clarks Summit University, and it received university status from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
