About Southern New Hampshire University
Southern New Hampshire University is a nonprofit university with campuses in Hookset and Manchester in New Hampshire. The school offers a significant number of its degrees online, and the majority of its student population attends virtual classes. More than 73,000 students are enrolled at the university. Founded in 1932, the school was once called the New Hampshire School of Accounting and Secretarial Science. It would become a college chartered by the state in the early 1960s and would grant its first degree in 1966. Classes were initially held in Hookset, and the campus was expanded into Manchester in the 1970s. Newly admitted students to Southern New Hampshire University must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to gain admission, but the school does not require standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, or an essay. However, the school recommends an interview at the time of application. When students apply online, the application fee is waived, and the university also recommends that students create a list of classes they intend to take while enrolled at SNHU. The graduate application process is virtually identical to the undergraduate application process, and the only significant difference is that undergraduate students must submit a transcript from high school and graduate applicants must deliver transcripts from college. Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition at Southern New Hampshire University is based on the level and type of program in which a student enrolls. Online undergraduate programs are charged at $960 per course or $320 per credit hour. U.S. service members and their spouses pay a reduced rate of $675. Students enrolled in online graduate programs pay $1,881 per course or $627 per credit. U.S. service members and their spouses pay $1,410 per course or $470 per credit. Some additional fees students may need to pay include a $150 graduation fee and fees related to course materials. On-campus tuition costs are similar, but the Ph.D. program in International Business is only available on campus and is $1,580 per credit or $4,711 per course. Students who visit the campus before applying can qualify for a $1,000 grant to reduce the cost of tuition.
Students are eligible for federal financial aid while attending Southern New Hampshire University and must submit a FAFSA form to qualify for a financial aid award. All students who believe they may need financial assistance to attend the university should submit their FAFSA.
