At Kansas State University, there are many popular undergraduate programs such as the criminology program, which is intended for students who want to gain a general understanding of criminal justice systems, processes, and concepts. Students learn the sociological theories of criminal behavior, prevention strategies, and treatment techniques. They also study unique sub-fields like victimology and corrections. Students are introduced to various legal, corrections and law enforcement agencies and how they interact with each other. Kansas State University Application Requirements

New freshmen must have a pre-college transcript with at least a 2.0 GPA for residents and 2.5 for non-residents. Both must have a 21 or higher ACT score, a 1020 or higher SAT score or a ranking in the top third of the graduating class. Those who do not meet these requirements should still apply. All applicants should submit their ACT and SAT scores with GED, high school and advanced credit transcripts. After the application is submitted, students should apply for scholarships by November first. Students should then apply for housing, and financial assistance.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Kansas State has two main campuses. Kansas residents who attend the Manhattan campus will pay $283 per credit hour and out-of-staters will pay $753 per credit hour. Kansas residents will pay an average of $3,974 per semester and out-of-staters will pay $10,545. Those who attend the Polytechnic campus will pay $268 per credit hour if they are Kansas residents and $713 if they are out-of-staters. This works out to $3,763 per semester for Kansas residents and $9,990 per semester for non-local residents. Kansas State offers locals a very affordable education.

When it comes to financial aid, Kansas State awards around $230 million every year. There are grants available that do not need to be repaid or that come with low interest rates. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to determine how much students’ families can afford based on income. Special financial assistance is available for current and former members of the military. In fact, popular military magazines consistently rank Kansas State as one of the top military-friendly universities in the country. The work-study program allows students to earn $2,000 to $6,000 every year by working 10 to 30 hours per week. There are also part-time campus jobs available for students whose FAFSA application doesn’t qualify them for the regular program. They can earn $1,920 to $5,760 a year working 10 to 30 hours a week.

Kansas State offers a rich variety of scholarships. For example, the Presidential Scholarship is for high performing students who show strong potential to contribute to the student body, classrooms, and extracurricular activities. The Vanier Family Scholarship is for students who want to pursue a degree from the College of Business Administration program. The Nancy Landon Kassebaum Scholarship is for students who plan on going into careers in public service.

The First Scholars Scholarship is for first-generation college students. The Edgerley-Franklin Urban and The Kansas State Civic Leadership Scholarships are for students who want to become urban leaders. There are also designated fellowships and grants available to Kansas State University graduate students, such as the GK-12 INSIGHT Fellowship for STEM students and the Small Grant Program for students conducting research in art, humanities, and social sciences.
