Missouri Baptist University, known as MBU or MoBap by students, is a private evangelical university. The school is located in Creve Coeur, a suburb of St. Louis. It was established in 1957 as an extension of Hannibal-LaGrange College. The school became chartered as a separate institution in 1964.

U.S. News and World Report ranks Missouri Baptist University at #128-#165 in midwest regional universities. The website Niche, which ranks schools based on reviews and test scores, states that the university is among the most conservative in the nation, ranking 58 out of 1,692.

Missouri Baptist University Application Requirements

Prospective students of Missouri Baptist University must provide a completed application, letters of recommendation, high school transcripts and proof of a completed ACT or SAT. Any student who has taken part in dual enrollment must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities. In order to be considered for admission, incoming freshman must score at least 20 on the ACT or 1030 combined on the SAT.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The cost of attending Missouri Baptist University depends entirely on the type of study a student pursues. Students who attend the main campus as a full-time undergraduate can expect to pay $13,430 for tuition each semester. This fee covers the cost of 12 to 18 credit hours. Any overload classes are charged at $893 per credit hour. Students who pursue under 12 hours are charged per credit hour at a rate of $929.

Graduate programs at the main campus are charged at a tuition rate of $618 per credit hour, with the exception of Doctor of Education programs, which cost $683 per hour.

The tuition for regional learning centers varies from $385 per hour to $436 per hour depending upon location. The cost for pursuing a graduate degree at one of these regional learning centers varies between $515 to $618 per credit hour. Online fees are $428 per hour. Those students interested in dual enrollment are charged $64 per hour if they are taken off-site or $124 per hour for on-campus learning.

In addition to tuition, students may be charged fees for activity courses, transcripts, lab usage, senior seminar, administration, graduation and more.

Students of Missouri Baptist University are eligible for financial aid packages that include work study, grants and scholarships. A student with a high school GPA of 3.6 or higher and a score of 30 or higher on the ACT are eligible for a full trustee scholarship, which pays full tuition for the school year. Students who earn this scholarship must maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA as they learn at Missouri Baptist University. Other, smaller award amounts are given for students who display excellence in educational experience. These awards vary from $9,000 to $14,000 per year. The school also offers a variety of merit-based scholarships for smaller amounts that may cover the cost of books and other fees.

Missouri Baptist University encourages all students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to determine eligibility for state and federal grants. These grants are need-based. They may provide up to $6,000 for those who qualify.
