About Trinity Baptist College

Trinity Baptist College is a private university in Jacksonville, Florida. Though affiliated with the Baptist Church, the college is part of the independent movement of churches within that religious organization. It was established in 1974 and initially had a small campus downtown before moving to its current campus in 1988. The college now offers degree programs at three levels and offers some online classes.

Also known as TBC, it has a 3 + 3 program designed for students who want to apply to law school. They spend three years at TBC and then transfer to a law school for three more years of classes before they can take the exam offered by the American Bar Association (ABA). Students taking classes on the TBC campus will join a society in their first years. They’ll work with those societies in competitions and special programs. The college also has a music group filled with students who travel across the country to perform for others. Fewer than 400 undergrads attend TBC every year.

Trinity Baptist College Accreditation Details

TBC received authorization from the Department of Education in Florida to offer degree programs in the state. It also has the authorization to offer online and distance education programs. TBC has full accreditation from the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TACCS), which is why the college can grant financial aid packages to students. Those students must use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to get one.

Trinity Baptist College Application Requirements

The Office of Admissions at TBC has a website that lets students view eligibility requirements to see if they can apply to and enroll in a program. Undergrads need either a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate, but the college also accepts students who present a home school certificate. Incoming students must provide a certificate or a high school transcript, pay a $35 application fee and submit the TBC application. The college asks for three references and requires two who can speak to the student’s character and one pastoral reference. Those who are under the age of 25 will also need to submit an SAT or ACT score.

The college’s graduate programs look for students who have some research experience and a bachelor’s degree. Students need to submit the application for admissions online and create a goals essay on the application. This allows them to discuss the goals they have in graduate school and once they work in the education or pastoral fields. They will also need to submit their college transcripts, pay a $35 application fee and submit two letters of recommendation. TBC encourages students to provide letters of recommendation from academic, professional and/or pastoral references.

Tuition and Financial Aid

TBC charges resident students who live on its campus $5,990 each semester for full-time enrollment. They’ll pay fees of $575 and room and board charges of $3,520 per semester, which brings their total costs to $20,170 each year. The college charges the same rate for commuter students who live near the campus. Graduate students pay $462 per credit hour. Some of the programs require that students do mission trips and pay more than $2,500 for each trip that they take.

All incoming and returning students can submit the FAFSA at the beginning of October or wait until later in the year to submit this form. They can only get financial aid for the fall semester if the college receives the FAFSA by the first of August. Government aid granted to students through this form includes work-study, grants and student loans. TBC also offers scholarships for students such as the Academic Scholar Award, which will match the total amount a student gets through a state program. Students who pay their balances by the beginning of the semester get a 5 percent discount on their costs. Other programs are available for those in band, the children of ministers, and students who submit the FAFSA early in the year. All the degree programs offered at Trinity Baptist College provide students with financial aid.
