Robert-Morris-UniversityNamed in honor of a signer of the Declaration of Independence and major financier for the Revolutionary War, Robert Morris University was founded in 1921 as a comprehensive private, non-sectarian teaching institution. Enrolling more than 5,500 students, RMU is headquartered on a main 230-are suburban campus in Moon Township within the hills outside of downtown Pittsburgh. Offering small class sizes with a student-faculty ratio of 15:1, RMU currently delivers over 60 bachelor’s programs and 20 master’s or doctoral programs, including several with online learning options.

Well-known for having a 92 percent job placement rate, Robert Morris University is currently ranked as the 96th best regional college and 34th top school for veterans in the North by the U.S. News and World Report. Even more importantly, RMU is acclaimed for hosting the 111th best online bachelor’s programs, 97th best online MBA program, 24th best online graduate computer information technology programs, and 125th top online graduate education programs in America. Robert Morris University Accreditation Details

As a whole, RMU has been formally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Many of the university’s colleges have also been separately accredited by discipline-focused professional associations. Business programs are accredited by the elite Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Engineering and computer science programs are approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Education degrees are accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). All levels of nursing programs are approved by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). RMU is a member of the Online Consortium of Independent Colleges and Universities (OCICU), as well.

Robert Morris University Application Requirements

With an acceptance rate of 80.3 percent, Robert Morris University has some admissions criteria in place to ensure students can successfully complete its courses. Incoming freshmen should be receiving or have received a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Preference is given to incoming freshmen who maintained a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. In most cases, RMU only accepts students who earned a minimum combined SAT score of 1000 or a composite ACT score of 22. Students wishing to transfer from other regionally accredited institutions must have earned a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 in college coursework.

Graduate students can apply for free on a rolling admission basis if the following credentials have been met. Whether students are applying to a master’s or doctoral program, it’s required that they already possess an accredited bachelor’s degree or its foreign equivalent. It’s advised that graduate students maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in their last 60 credits of undergraduate coursework. Official test scores from the GMAT, GRE, or MAT will be required by many of the graduate programs, but tests must have been taken within the past five years.

For admissions, interested students must submit an online or paper application with:

• Official high school and/or college transcripts from all schools attended.
• A transfer college history form if applicable.
• Reports for standardized test scores.
• TOEFL or IELTS score reports with a copy of passport for international students.
• Two or more letters of recommendation.
• A personal statement of purpose showing high aspirations.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Online undergraduate students at Robert Morris University pay $710 per credit hour regardless of their state of residency. Students pursuing the online teaching certificate will pay $800 per credit and students in the organizational leadership certificate program will spend $765 per credit. At the graduate level, online business students pay $875 per credit hour and education students are expected to pay $815 per credit. The online health services administration program also costs $815 per credit hour. Graduate nursing students pursuing the MSN pay significantly less at $495 per credit.

In order to help reduce these tuition costs, RMU offers a wide array of financial aid opportunities for any undergraduate or graduate students who complete the FAFSA form with the federal school code 003359. Along with federal and private loans that must be repaid, students with financial need could qualify for the Pell Grant, FSEOG Grant, TEACH Grant, or Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant. Admitted students are automatically considered for multiple merit-based, athletic, need-based, and competitive RMU scholarships too. For instance, the BK Simon Scholarship will be given for $11,000 per year to undergrads demonstrating an exemplary understanding of the values of free enterprise.

Through the RMU Online Division, the same high-quality faculty members teach flexible, convenient online degree programs for busy working professionals juggling other family and/or work obligations. B.S. in Cyber Forensics and Information Security

As new technological innovations proliferate our society, RMU has created the B.S. in Cyber Forensics and Information Security program to prepare students for putting effective security measures in place to prevent hackers and identity thieves. Within the fully online 123-credit program, students will dive into coursework on technology, business, organizational behavior, law, criminal justice, cyber terrorism, cyber crime, and programming.

BSBA in Hospitality & Tourism

In preparation for a $4 trillion industry, the BSBA in Hospitality & Tourism program is delivered completely online for students wishing to build the business acumen needed to assume managerial roles in hotels, restaurants, resorts, cruise lines, casinos, airlines, and more. In the 120-credit program, hospitality majors will take coursework ranging from managerial accounting and strategic planning to executive development and convention management.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Delivered fully online with AACSB accreditation, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at RMU is designed for busy business professionals who wish to enhance their skills, advance their leadership opportunities, and boost their income potential without interrupting their career. Over the course of three semesters of eight-week sessions, MBA students will complete 36 credits online with classes in marketing, managerial accounting, operations management, corporate finance, strategic planning, organizational behavior, and economics.

RN to MSN Program

Established with a unique focus on nursing education, the RN to MSN program is offered fully online for practicing registered nurses who wish to advance their careers as nurse educators to teach in clinical, community, and/or academic settings. Within this 103-credit program, nurses at Robert Morris University will fill any gaps in learning with courses on anatomy, microbiology, curriculum design, human development, learning theory, health promotion, quality management, pharmacology, and health policy before a clinical teaching practicum.
