Indianapolis is home to three private universities, as well as several public research institutions. Three Fortune 500 companies, Anthem Inc., Eli Lilly, and Calumet Specialty Products, are based in this large Indiana city. These companies offer internships and employment opportunities for students attending college in the Indianapolis area. Working adults, and students who desire online education, populate the city and outlying areas. As a result, distance-learning programs have increased, even among the area’s private institutions.

Methodology

We reviewed online colleges in Indiana within 90 miles of Indianapolis. We looked at accredited institutions that offered one or more online degree program. Once we gathered a list of schools, we narrowed down our search to include only institutions with earned rankings from major publications like Forbes magazine and U.S. News and World Report. We selected the top 10 colleges for our list based on the rankings received from the above publications. Schools with more published rankings earned a higher spot on our list.

#10 – Anderson University

Anderson University is a private, Christian college approximately 40 miles from Indianapolis. The school offers more than sixty undergraduate majors. Recently the school opened up a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry, which may be completed entirely online.
